Hi Larry, I'm an NEA 2026 Delegate. I tossed my hat in the ring starting 2023 to invoke change, regardless of political leaning of the org, due to the egregious covid shot ploy. I agree with portions of your post. Regarding purchasing cruelty-free, vegan supplies, though, would you rather school districts purchase cruelty-filled teaching materials with nasty, animal secretions, etc. in them?
Is it so radical to invest in kindness instead of pain? Veganism is anything but a new concept. Some of the most intelligent, wisest ones in history practiced non-violence towards sentient beings. I was close with a decades long vegan, Coby Siegenthanler, prior to her passing. Take a read about her and her husband, Hans. I know if either of them had read about this proposal, in lieu of mocking, they would have celebrated.
